Wireless Power Charging by Nokia

Countries all over are going after the alternative energy resources for their needs. Some are following path of coal, some bio-fuel, some solar and now a group is going after Wireless Power. Reportedly, Labs in Nokia are working on Wireless Power for the cellphones.

Technology in the making is using the power from ambient radio waves to keep the cellphone ON. Ambient Radio eaves are emitted from cell-phone antenna, TV masts, Wi-Fi transmitters and other similar resources. The technology works by converting electromagnetic waves into an electrical signal.

Nokia Research Center in Cambridge,UK is working on this technology. The prototype model can achieve 3 to 5 milliwatts whereas they are working to achieve 50 milliwats - enough to charge the cellphone.
