SONY R&D Labs in Japan has announced that they have successfully developed a system in which TV devices and other appliances can be charged wirelessly from a distance upto 80cm.

We have earlier seen this demonstration from a scientist in recent held TED conference. But SONY came first in electronics industry. Sony system can transfer 60 watt of power efficiently over 50cm in Transmitter & Receiver model but if the appliance is placed far from this distance, then there will be need of Passive Extender Unit which will further increase the distance to 80cm. Technology is based on magnetic resonance.
